Frequently Asked Questions

Some questions are asked more than others, below, a collection of the most asked questions.

Does MultiViewer support 4K/HDR streaming?
No, 4K/HDR streaming is currently not supported on the web, and as MultiViewer is a web app under the hood, it does not support 4K HDR streaming. This may change in the future, but as of now, it is not supported.
Will MultiViewer still work with F1 TV Pro?
Yes, but you're limited by the amount of streams you can have open at the same time. At this time, we don't know exactly what the limit is, and it appears F1 TV is actively adjusting how these limits are enforced. You can still use Live Timing and the other features of MultiViewer with F1 TV Pro.
Why would I subscribe to F1 TV Premium if I use MultiViewer?
F1 TV Premium still offers many new and improved features that are not available when you watch in MultiViewer, such as:
Can I use MultiViewer on my TV?
Yes, you can use the MultiViewer app on your TV, but we don't offer a TV app. To get MultiViewer on a TV, you'll have to connect your computer to your TV using an HDMI cable, and all devices in the chain to your TV need to support HDCP, a protocol for content protection. Devices that often don't support HDCP are older monitors, older TVs, and some HDMI splitters/docks.
Can I use MultiViewer on my phone/tablet?
No, as of now you cannot use the MultiViewer app on your phone/tablet, but if you have F1 TV Premium, you can use the F1 TV app to get a "multi view" experience on your phone/tablet. This is more limited than the full MultiViewer experience, but it allows you to watch multiple onboard cameras at the same time.
Does this app support live races/DRM?
Yes, MultiViewer can stream live races that are DRM protected, since the player is able to play DRM protected content. Other limitations (such as not being able to screenshot it) still apply, and MultiViewer doesn't (help) circumvent any of the content protections F1 TV put in place.
Is this project open-source?
No, MultiViewer is a closed-source project.
Can I use ESPN, FanCode, Kayo, Foxtel, Servus TV, Canal+, Viaplay, Sky Sports, DAZN, HBO Max with MultiViewer?
No, MultiViewer doesn't support these broadcasters. You canread more about what you need. What you can do for F1, for instance, is use only our telemetry. For this, you only need F1 TV Access, which is fairly cheap and much more widely available.
Can I use MultiViewer to watch IndyCar for free?
You can watch the onboards and live timing for free with an IndyCarLive account, but for the race itself you'll need a subscription.
Is this an official app?
No, MultiViewer isn't endorsed, sponsored or in any way associated with any of the racing series that we support. We are using the technology offered by them to offer a better alternative for desktops.
What does the app cost?
MultiViewer is free, but requires a subscription for most of the racing series that we support. Read more about each racing series' requirements here.
Can I donate/support your work?
Yes, you don't have to as MultiViewer is free to use, but if you want to support the developer you can donate here.
