App analytics

MultiViewer, when first launched, will ask you if you allow it to collect anonymous analytics, which is used to improve the app. This is completely optional, and you can change your mind at any time. If you choose to allow analytics, MultiViewer will collect the following information using Google Analytics, with all advertising features turned off and configured in the most privacy-friendly way possible:

  1. Everything Google Analytics collects by default, such as page views, element/link clicks, operating system, coarse location information, operating system, screen resolution, etc., including real-time usage statistics

This is the most basic information that Google Analytics collects by default, and is used to understand how users interact with the app. This information is not personally identifiable, and is used to understand basic app usage.

  2. Frame-drops, playback errors

Knowing the amount of frame drops and playback errors that occur helps identify if we're going in the right direction, or if changes introduced in a new version of the app are causing issues. This information is not personally identifiable, and is used to understand the performance of the app.

  3. Your current uptime

Knowing how long your computer has been running helps understand if this has any effect on the amount of frame-drops. This is not personally identifiable and is only used to correlate errors or poor performance with long uptime.

  4. The CDN that you get assigned to

To understand if there are any issues with a particular CDN, as is understood to be the case, the app collects the CDN that is used to stream the video. This is not personally identifiable, and is used to understand if there are any issues with a particular CDN.

  5. Information related to your viewing setup (screen count, how many simultaneous streams you run)

To better understand how users are using MultiViewer, and how certain setups may be more or less prone to errors or poor performance, and to better understand the need for certain new features, the app collects information about your viewing setup, such as how many screens you have, and how many simultaneous streams you run. This is not personally identifiable, and is used to understand how users are using MultiViewer.

  6. Usage statistics for certain features

When new features are introduced, or for existing features, we may add analytics to see how, and how often they are used, to help us decide if we should continue to support them, or if we should remove them. This is not personally identifiable, and is used to understand how users are using MultiViewer.

We'll never collect any personally identifiable information. All the information collected is used, in one way or another, to improve the app and make it better for you. We try our best to keep this list up-to-date so you know exactly what is being collected and for what purpose.

If you have any questions or wish to use your privacy rights (such as request a copy of your information, or to delete the information), you can reach out on Discord or email [email protected] for more information.
